How to Collect Your CircleDNA SampleUpdated 2 months ago

Collecting your sample is quick, gentle, and non-invasive. Just follow these simple steps to ensure a smooth process and accurate results.

Before You Begin

To avoid contamination and get the most accurate sample, please:

  • Do not eat, drink, smoke, chew gum, or brush your teeth for at least 30 minutes before collecting your sample

  • Wash your hands with soap and water

  • Make sure your mouth is clean and free of food particles

  • If you find that your cheeks are too dry to swab, we recommend gurgling with a little plain water prior to collecting your sample.

  • Many users find it easiest to collect their sample first thing in the morning before brushing their teeth.

Step-by-Step Collection Instructions

1. Open the Cheek Swab Packet

  • Take out the soft, sterile swab. Be careful not to touch the tip.

2. Collect the Sample

  • Rub the swab firmly along the inside of one cheek 10 times.

  • Use a rotating motion to collect enough cheek cells.

  • Repeat on the other cheek using the same swab.

3. Insert the Swab into the Tube

  • Open the collection tube that contains the preservative solution.

  • Place the swab into the tube and break off the stick at the scored line so that the tip fits inside.

4. Seal the Tube

  • Close the cap tightly to prevent leakage during shipping.

  • Gently shake the tube to mix the solution with your sample.

5. Package Your Sample

  • Place the tube into the provided Specimen Bag and seal it.

  • Follow the return instructions to send your sample to our lab.

Final Tips

  • Make sure your kit is activated through the Circle App before sending it back.

  • Return your sample as soon as possible after collection for the best results.

  • If the preservative solution spills or the tube is damaged, you can request a replacement kit through the Circle mobile app

Note: As long as your swab is submerged in the stabilizer and the tube is sealed, your sample will remain preserved. It can be safely stored for up to 3 months at temperatures ranging from -20ºC to 50ºC (-4ºF to 122ºF).
